I'll be honest, in the middle of winter, a smoothie bowl is the LAST thing I want. But in the warmer months? Come at me!

This is what it really means to be an intuitive eater – you honour what you intuitively desire, and hey, sometimes that might mean a smoothie bowl on a winter day. But since many of our palettes are influenced by the seasons, what you'll find is that you start to crave more fresh, raw and living foods when summer hits.

It's largely why I've partnered up with Genuine Health to host a series of Smoothie Bowl Making Workshops throughout May and June this year!

You've likely seen smoothie bowls all over on Instagram, but believe it or not, there is a bit of an art to it if you actually want to get the most out of it. What I mean by that is that there are 4 key components that every smoothie bowl should have in order to make it balanced and ensure that you reap the many health benefits from it.

Green Pina Colada Smoothie Bowl

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup spinach

  • 1/2 frozen banana

  • 6 frozen pineapple chunks

  • 1 scoop Genuine Health fermented vegan protein+ (Natural Coconut)

  • 1 scoop Genuine Health fermented organic gut superfoods

  • 1 tbsp ground flax

  • 1 tbsp chia seeds

  • 250ml coconut milk (from carton)

Directions:

  • Blend in a high-powered blender and serve in a bowl. Top with toppings of your choice (i.e. unsweetened shredded coconut, chia seeds, blueberries, blackberries, banana, coconut, coconut chips, granola)
